Hello Sam and Linda,
It is another year and I have been away five months, which is much longer than I care to be away from such good friends. I will see you in September. With the wetter weather behind us, the touring and exploring begins again. For those who enjoy a mixture of adventure, culture and magnificent scenery it does not get any better.

The very best regards,
Greg from the US

A Ride to be remembered

On the road with family friend and tourgide Samuel Schläppi on the 19.dez.09 for three days.

...but first we have a look, one week befor hand!

...I musst confess, I never been ridding such a heavy offroad bike, like the XT600Z Tenere. But I had the lizen to drive those though. Nothing to compare with, what I been ridding in germany. At my thender and sweet age of 19, and my hope that I would last trough out that age that is =D. Samy was so kind, to lead me a hand and inlightend me with some basic rouls, on the streets of Philippinnes:

...first of all, always gif way to trucks and busses!!!! If your life means something to you, that is.
sooooooo deam right my life means something to me, exspecially when I`m suposed to turn 20 in a week =D!!!
...second, always stick to your position wail driving and drive close to the midel line.
...and third, what I also learned, was how much love, time, compasion and afford it needs to mentain, service and care ten motorbikes. It´s real hard work!!

...I was ready to bored the roads now^^
Morning dezember 19th 2009, exit point Bauang, destination Bontok mountain province, famous for there magnificent ricetaraces. Now there we wear, six of us, rocking the road, watching the man behinde, to keep formation and safety asured. On the first day, we drove all the way to Bontok. We incountered wonderful seenerie and serpentins that apeared to be very tricky, weat and slipry too. Of course me being curious about everything, had to try and ended up kissing the road =D. But lucky as I am, the bike and my self sufferd smale damage ^^ puhh. With a fierce look on his face, samy was charging in on me...and I like thought O O not good, and he like went to put his hand on to my shoulder and sad: well boy, I knew from the start you would atlease kiss the road ones! And we all started to laugh. After that he treated my wonds with alkohol and the others sure had a good time laughfing at me =D. Than we crosed the highes build road in the Philippinnes, over 7400 fet. From ther we still had a coupl of hours ride left to or hotel. On the next day, we departed late, becouse to Mount Data Hotel, or next destination, was just a 3 to 4 hours ride. As we arrived at the hotel, they been already waiting for us and announcing us on a bored, writen
SAMY´S BIKERS GROUP. All to the great planning and arrangement of Samy of cource. In the hotel I had the best lunch and dinner in the Philippinnes, apart from the cooking of my mum =P. At night falls, we been sitting on an open chimney fire, drinking lots of pots with mountain tea, thats sad to have special healing powers.

...But all that tea made me fell, was my bladder =D. On the last day, we started early. We been driving KM for KM along mountain ranges, with weather that favors us, at the end of the road, we came out on an war monument, between the US and Japanis. From there on it went downhill, crossing valleys and smal rivers, mostly roughroud. Nearing the end of or trip, we been driving the last KM along the seacoast, to the point where we started off.

...It was one of the greatest experience, that I have made in the Philippinnes. I be sure to do this again!!!!

Hi.Hou.Hello...

... yes, it was my first trip to Philippines and not the last. Luzon was a big positive surprise for a biker... great curvy roads with great views... although Philippine government is spoiling them rapidly with new pavement all over... atleast if you are cruising around with an offroad-bike... and on the other had new dimensions are opening for street bikes... ;)

... Sam, our tourleader for our Tenere-week is a good organizer and his -86/-87 Tenere\'s probably the best on the Globe and very well upholded... and this is also a small problem on the other hand. Bikes are like Sam\'s baby\'s and you can\'t let go and enjoy to roads totally ...

... but in whole, I enjoyed our North-Luzon... and when I think about it now, I would do it in opposite order. Now we drove the best part first and flatest part last...

... we drove 200 to 300km days... and I know, there are many kind of us on the bikers, but what I felt, the days where somewhat short ... also we where lucky with the tyres. Not one flat tyre on the whole week...

Hi all, I am a brit that has been traveling to the Philippines for 25 years, in the UK I use bikes as my favoured mode of transport, 2 years ago I decided to purchase a Tenere motorcycle so I could see more of the Philippines, The guy I purchased the bike from told me about Sam and said that he was a handy person to know, sure enough a within a couple of months I had a problem. I contacted Sam and he instantly agreed to help me, I had the bike delivered to his place and got a real surprise, tucked away in a quiet residential area is Sam & Linda's home, what a loverly place and for me a superb workshop, I have worked as a mechanic in the UK and pride myself on my facilities but I have to take my hat of to Sam, his facilities and knowledge of the Tenere are unsurpassed, he of course fixed my bike with genuine yamaha parts and at the same time became a good friend. because of his help I have been able to tour parts of the Philippines that I had not seen in the 25 years I have been coming here, not only does he have a fantastic knowledge of the Philippines as a whole he can also show you gems within 30 minutes of his home, I advise any competant rider who fancies a truly memorable experience to give Sam & Linda a call and talk to him, you wont regret it, regards Gary from England

Hallo sam&linda,

Hello All,
My wife and I are retired currently living in Baccuit, La Union. This makes us a little older than most of Sam & Linda’s clients but no less motorcycle enthusiast seeking adventure. Believe me the Philippines is a place full of adventure. Sam and Linda motorcycle tour’s is a wonderful rare find no matter what country you are touring. Sam has an incredible detailed knowledge of places and back roads that the locals aren’t even aware of. Sam can generate a ride for whatever length of time you have available. He and I have scouted the back country for only a few hours or all day never using the main highways. Sam’s tours are the most well prepared, thought out trips I have had the pleasure of making anywhere. His fleet of Yamaha XT600 Tenere motorcycles are meticulously maintained in a shop that resembles a dealership garage. Sam’s mechanical knowledge of the Tenere workings is unsurpassed and combined with the methodical approach he uses in the maintenance of his motorcycle’s you can always be assured they are performing at their best. While touring “his” bike is loaded with spares to ensure that if a problem does occur it is quickly made right and the tour continues as planned. This is essential for a successful tour as once you are on the road there is little to “NO” local support of any kind. Sam and Linda are gracious hosts and work hard to provide their clients with the very best motorcycle experience possible. I would recommend at least a 3-5 day tour to really see a wide range of beautiful scenery that the Philippines has to offer.

Best Regards,
Greg & Annie USA

Have fun and ride safe…..
